Merging Engineering and Agriculture to Combat Climate Change

Meet the AL for Agribusiness network member who is geared to solve Africa’s environmental issues!

Published: 10 October 2022

Rock AGON is a senior technician in renewable energy and energy systems who resides in Cotonou, Benin. He is an entrepreneur who is passionate about climate change and conserving the environment. He has a dream of designing technology products that solve problems in his community and also the world. His strong passion for climate change made him pursue a bachelor’s degree in renewable energy and energy systems at the University of Abomey Calavi. He chose renewable energy because he wants to be part of the problem-solvers in Africa who are taking initiative to combat the effects of climate change. Rock believes that with renewable energy and responsible agriculture, disastrous consequences of global warming can drastically be reduced.

He is currently honing his skills as a promoter at SEFAID, a company specialized in engineering and energy services. The companies’ main line of products are agricultural machines and devices such as solar-powered rice clipper, solar energy supply systems for agricultural processing plants and hybrid motorcycles. Rock intends to gain as much experience as possible through internships and volunteer work. He believes that as a young person, having experience is the priority and this experience will set him up well for a successful career.
