AL for Agribusiness Hires a New Intern

Meet with the new AL for Agribusiness network who will join as a marketing and social media intern

Published: 18 July 2023

My name is Amamuel Erkyihun Bekalu from Ethiopia. I graduated from African Leadership Academy in 2021. I am excited to be part of the AL for Agribusiness network as a marketing and social media intern. My passion for agriculture and technology inspired my decision to join this internship program, and I look forward to contributing my expertise to this noble cause.

My journey of being part of this network began when I saw a young boy using a cow to farm the land. It was a soulful experience that brought tears to my eyes. I couldn’t believe that, in this modern time, some people in my region still rely on cow farming, while the rest of the world is using advanced technology to revolutionize their farming practices. It is heartbreaking that Ethiopia, known for being the first country to use cows, is still lagging in this regard. I knew I had to do something to make a difference.

The network is the great platform for me to channel my passion, skills, and creativity towards creating a better future for underprivileged farmers in my region. I am proud to be part of a network that is dedicated to improving farmers’ lives by providing them with the right ideas, tools, technology, and knowledge to compete in the global market.

As a marketing and social media intern, I hope to use my skills to connect the network members’ initiatives with a broader audience. I strongly believe that by increasing awareness of the network’s work, we can attract more support and resources towards our cause. I look forward to working with the team to develop compelling storytelling techniques that will inspire people to join us in our mission.

In the words of Thomas Jefferson, “Agriculture is our wisest pursuit because it will, in the end, contribute most to real wealth, good morals, and happiness.” I share this sentiment and believe that, through the AL for Agribusiness network, we can achieve this for Africa’s farmers.

In conclusion, I am honored to be part of the network and to work alongside talented and passionate individuals who share my vision for a better agriculture sector in Africa. I am committed to making the most of this internship opportunity and contributing my skills, ideas, and enthusiasm towards this noble cause. And to add a bit of humor, let’s just say I am ready to milk opportunities and plant seeds of greatness!
